Petrichor Duo
Madison Deppe, flute • Patrick Anderson, guitar
Patrick and Madison met in Georgetown in 2022 and quickly found a shared love of discovering interesting and evocative repertoire across many genres and backgrounds, including Irish, Brazilian, Spanish, classical, and American music. They bring together extensive solo and chamber performance experience, and as Petrichor Duo, regularly perform at venues ranging from art galleries and cultural events to schools and house concerts.
"Petrichor" is the name for the smell of the earth after a rain, and to the duo also brings with it the sense of the deeply familiar, the innate connection to nature and home, a theme they have found and continue to explore with the traditional or folk-music undercurrent running through much of their repertoire.
Patrick Anderson is an American guitarist with a diverse background in art music, folk, and popular styles. He has performed extensively throughout the U.S. and Mexico as a soloist and chamber musician, and has recently relocated to the GTA. He won first prize at the Mid-America Chamber Music competition and completed graduate performance studies at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles with musical luminaries Pepe Romero, Brian Head, Scott Tennant, William Kanengiser and others.
